A family owned small business, Hatcountry operated out of Historic Englishtown, New Jersey. They can be found at rodeos, hunting fishing shows, country music festivals, and state fairs across the United States. Over the last year alone they've had stands at over 35 shows, covering 12 states. They carry one of the largest selections of western hats around, including Bailey, Stetson, Resistol, Stetson Hats, Shady Brady Hats and Renegade. They also carry a vast selection of outdoorsman hats.
Challenges
Initially, Hatcountry.com had dynamic pages with very little content, so it was difficult for search engines to index the pages and that led to no rankings. There was also very little link-back support, and a low PageRank. Also, the keywords to be optimized were mostly the products names and therefore very competitive. Hatcountry was also spending a lot of resources on expensive alternatives like pay per click, which was driving in the traffic, but at high cost, but it was not a sustainable long-term marketing option for them.
Solution
We started out by creating additional content for the website by writing industry related articles, with competitive keywords. This helped the website have static pages, which the search engines could index easily. We also optimized the already existing dynamic pages. We then recommended a link-building campaign for highly competitive keywords. We also increased the search engine saturation of the website by extensive interlinking. All our efforts have resulted in hatcountry having the top rankings for competitive keywords like "cowboy hats". |
